American Airlines’ In-Flight Indie Music Experiment Pays off in Social Media
American Airlines received a lot of criticism about their music selections, and as a result they started playing indie music in flight, and while passengers are boarding.
Apparently the decision they made to listen to indie music fans and incorporate new indie music selections has resulted in a 7 fold increase in positive Tweets about the airline, as of the first week in May.
The airline’s Director of Inflight Entertainment & Connectivity, Brian Richardson, reports that since its introduction, the Indie music selection has made a significant positive impact on American’s passengers and that love of music is clearly transforming into a love of the brand in measurable ways on Twitter.
Brian also communicated that they will be the first airline to introduce the new Bose Quiet Comfort 25 (QC25) noise-canceling headphones on its Premium cabins flying to Europe, Asia, and Latin America very soon.
