Drums 103: Advanced Licks, Tricks, and Grooves- Clip 6 Cut Time

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The video demonstration above shows an advanced drumming technique called cut time (or half time). Although the beats will be played faster in this video, you’ll also see the technique played slower, so you can get a feel for how you should accent beats effectively in your playing.

Keep in mind that Bam is very experienced, so he can break down the beat slowly, but can also play lightning fast. As long as you can get the fundamentals down and keep practicing… you’ll be able to keep increasing your drumming speed.

One thing to note is that if you try speeding up too fast before you’re ready, you (and anyone within ear shot of your drumming) will hear why that’s not a good idea.
