Getting Gigs: What to Do Before You Start Looking For A Gig Part 2
Many musicians love to perform live but have a hard time booking gigs regularly.
Here are some tips you should keep in mind when you approach promoters
1) Introduce yourself and ask for permission to send music
Make sure you’re polite in your introduction but don’t be too pushy. It’s important that you don’t lose sight of your objective to get a gig. Provide the promoter your business card and if the agree provide them your EP and or a link to your live performance.
2) Clearly articulate what you can do for the venue
Be clear on your goals and the venues goals as well so you can successfully create a win-win situation for everyone involved.
3) Leverage your subscribers and social media to book more gigs
Make it clear to promoters that you can help promote the venue and explain how exactly you can help get more fans to the venues. Analyze your subscribers information so you can sort out your contacts by geographic location. When you approach promoters, let them know how many subscribers you have within 20 miles or so of the venue, and how many people in the area follow you on social media.
