How One Indie Artist is Paying Her Rent with Youtube Money

A musician named Shannon Hurley thought she could make some money when she opted in for CD Baby’s free Sync licensing program. She’s active on YouTube and through her years of performing and writing she built an engaged fanbase.

Although she thought she may make some money, she was surprised with the amounts of money she was seeing in her account simply from clicking a button to opt in.  She gains access to this revenue stream without red tapes or hassles, and that’s fantastic for a full-time musician.  She said “It was like found money.” “This allows me, as an indie artist, to easily license my music directly but still have complete control.  I never imagined in a 1,000 years that it would be enough money to pay rent!  And that’s always the goal:  allowing artists to keep creating music.”
