How to Create Indie Music

Many aspiring musicians can visualize themselves fronting a hugely successful band, or selling out stadiums.  That sounds great in theory but many have a hard time even getting started.

So how do you create indie music?

You can start by simply writing down some of your music ideas.  Try treating this process like a creative writing exercise, like you may have done in school.  Write whatever comes out naturally.  That may be a great way to start your process for writing lyrics.  Just put your thoughts down on paper and see where they take you.

In the beginning, try not to over think what you are creating.  You can always refine what you come up with later as long as you document what you’re doing.

Also, you should be in an environment that fosters your music creativity.  Make sure you’re in a stress free environment so you’re talent can more easily shine, and you can prepare to share your music with the world.
