How to Sound Your Best for Online Gigs

One of the most important technical components of doing a successful online event is Sound.  You may have already spent a lot of time writing and recording songs, and when you are ready to perform it, you want to represent the best of what you can do.   The most simple setup will likely be the best.

So how do you sound your best for online gigs?

It starts with the right microphone and a good soundcheck.

If you expect to throw a microphone in the middle of a room then going live with your recording, think again because you’ll need to be more prepared than that.  You should be able to use a good quality room microphone if you place it in a good location AND take the time to set the audio levels properly.

Why sound is more important than video

If you’ve ever had a video chat with someone where the audio was cutting in an out, you probably didn’t last too long before you disconnected and tried again.  Of course video is an important component of a live concert, but if no one sticks around because the audio is horrible, video won’t mean much to them.
