Learn & Master Guitar Tips: Basic Types of Guitar Effects Pedals

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Learn & Master Guitar video above shows you three types of electric guitar effects pedals you should consider trying out to add more color to your guitar playing.

Steve Krenz from Learn & Master Guitar shows you different types of effects pedals, how they work, and how you should connect them together.

Distortion Pedal: The Overdrive breaks up and distorts your sound quite a bit. This is good to make your sound more edgy or even more muffled. Drive (distortion), tone (how it sounds), and volume adjustments (how much sound is going out) often can be made with a distortion pedal.

Chorus Pedal: This type of pedal adjusts your sound and makes a type of swirling sound that works well with ballads. You can control how fast the sound is spinning, the width (how out of tune or off the tune the sound is) and the intensity of that sound.

Delay Pedals: This takes your sound and it adds replications or echos of your sound. You can control how loud the echo is with the volume control. You can also adjust how many times the sound repeats, and how fast it repeats.

Steve also references a Pedal Board in the video. The guitar pedal board is often a flat board or panel which serves as a container, patch bay (which often contains a lot of jacks) and power supply for your electric guitar pedals. This is how you should set up your pedal board…

Overdrives and distortions should be first in your chain, then you add chorus effects, then Delays and Reverbs right before the signal goes out to your amp.

You can go to your local music store to try them out with your guitar, or you can click here to get effects pedals like the Boss DD3 that Steve uses.

Check out the video, continue to practice regularly (with and without effects pedals), and you’ll be on  your way to playing guitar like the pros in no time.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_cta_button call_text=”Find 40 HOURS of award winning guitar lessons!” title=”Learn and Master the Guitar Here” target=”_blank” color=”btn-danger” icon=”none” size=”wpb_regularsize” position=”cta_align_right” href=”/LearnMasterTheGuitar”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
