Should You Play that Gig For Free or Not?

There was an infographic last week that went viral on Instagram. The folks at Work Not Play, a UK based musician union, created a diagram that created a bit of controversy.

It has rubbed many working musicians the wrong way, and this issue isn’t as black and white as it may seem.

Some musicians take non paying gigs for exposure and the future opportunities that exposure may bring. Others choose only to play paying gigs without exception.
