Marshall Student Creates Musical Social Media Network
A student and violinist from USC named Vincent Fong marches to the beat of his own drum. He strives to make music something to be truly created an enjoyed by all. As a result, Fong launched a social media network named FindMySong. This is the equivalent of a musicians-only Facebook, and this platform is created to help musician find the exact people they are looking for to get help or collaboration on their music projects.
Users create profiles that highlight their skills, current projects, and preferences, and find other artists who have common needs. Specific search tools make it easier to find specific projects to audition for when collaborating to create music.
The site also includes file sharing and group messaging to help facilitate communication during audition and recording processes. What is particularly unique about this site is it deals with complex legal issues such as ownership. Users can assign copyright to manage rights from a central board, and assign copyright to project members. This can help users avoid violations and disputes.
