10 Reasons A Music Lawyer Won’t Shop Your Demo

One of the most frequent services that artists contact music lawyers about is for demo shopping.  It’s important to know that most music lawyers won’t shop just “any” demo that comes their way no matter how much money you offer them, after all their reputation is at stake.

Many lawyers will have their own approach to shopping demos, but here are some reasons why your music demos will NOT be shopped.

1) You didn’t find a mutual contact for an introductions– If you can find a mutual contact to make an introduction for you to a music attorney it will really help.  This is important if you want your submissions to rise to the top and  get a music lawyers attention

2) You didn’t fully produce the track– Your rough track may sound great to you, but if it is not fully produced and mastered, it will be a tough sell for a lawyer to pitch this to their colleagues.

3) You have uncleared samples–  If your music samples are not cleared, this will endanger publishers, music licensing companies, and potential labels etc.  This can put you front and center for a copyright infringement lawsuit, and this is something you definitely want to avoid, so take proper precautions and get  your music cleared with a license before pitching it to others.

4) You’re not willing to fix any of the issues–  Make sure you follow through and fix any issues your lawyer brings to your attention if you want to continue to work with them.

Always remember your music career is always in your hands.  If your music and talent is good, continue to work hard, and your career may rise to to the top.
